Synopsis :
The
Barbie 2023 movie follows the story of Barbie, the most popular of all the
Barbies in Barbieland, as she experiences an existential crisis and begins to
question her world and her existence. During a dance party at her house,
Barbie suddenly starts questioning her mortality, and the next day, she suffers
an existential crisis, experiencing a series of mishaps including her perfect
skin with blemishes and her arched feet going flat. The other Barbies suggest
she visit Weird Barbie, who informs her that the human girl who is playing with
her is unhappy. To fix her crisis, Barbie must travel to the real world, find
the girl, and help her. At a local school, Barbie finds her human girl,
Sasha, and tries to help her. However, Sasha and her friends condemn Barbie for
glorifying bimbo culture and unhealthy life goals, causing Barbie to run off in
tears.
Meanwhile,
the Mattel CEO discovers Barbie's existence and orders her deportation to
Barbieland, sending his men after her. Barbie arrives at Mattel
Headquarters and meets the CEO and his male subordinates. They try to send her
back via a life-sized doll box, but Barbie deduces their intention and escapes
in a pursuit. She is helped by Sasha and her mother Gloria, who is revealed to
be the incitement for Barbie's worries. Gloria started playing with Barbie
during a midlife crisis, relinquishing her concerns over to Barbie. Barbie
believes the human is influencing her to have these depressing thoughts and
wants to put things right in both their minds. As the movie progresses, viewers
watch as she discovers what it means to be human in a world where women are not
the center of everything, and males are the ruling gender.

it seems that the 2023
Barbie movie has some enjoyable moments and good performances, but also some
flaws and unevenness. In this film, Barbie 2023 tackles a hot topic of the
current era, which is patriarchy and feminism. Barbie leans more towards
supporting feminism, while Ken supports patriarchy. In their world, Barbieland,
feminism prevails. However, when they enter the real world, everything changes.
Barbieland turns into a patriarchy. But in the end, Barbie emerges as the
winner.Some critics found it funny and heartwarming, while others felt it
lacked depth and was too focused on marketing.
